The Pender County Museum sits on a lot that was originally a baseball field with a fence around it to keep non-payers from watching. In the early 1900s, before the baseball field, the lot was home to a blacksmith shop.

In addition to the DAR, the Pender County Museum is supported by the Burgaw Garden Club, the Boy Scouts of America, the Blueberry Festival Antique Show, memorials and honorariums. There are more than 35 volunteers, including DAR members, working to receive, acquire, record, display, clean and inventory over 2,000 artifacts. In partnership with the Pender County Library, our volunteers are currently digitizing obituaries for the public use on the internet.
