Welcome!

Brick House Landing waymarker

Brick House Landing Chapter is located in Plymouth, North Carolina, a small town on the Roanoke River and the Albemarle Sound in northeastern North Carolina. Prior to the American Revolution the area was known as Brick House Landing by the sea captains because there was a brick storehouse holding ship’s stores. It was also referred to as the “Plymouth of the South.” In the days following the American Revolution, the area now known as Plymouth was a major port city. During the Civil War the Union Army for a good part of the war occupied Plymouth. The Battle of Plymouth was the second largest battle fought in North Carolina and the final victory for the Confederacy.

Chapter Activities

Tying the past to the present is our gift to the future.

  • Our chapter celebrates Constitution Week, September 17 – 23 by putting displays in the town office, the library and business in our town. The town lets us use an empty building and we use all 3 windows for a display, featuring Patriots. We try to put a Poster in every business through out our downtown and the adjacent business areas. We do presentation to the Washington County High School, Washington County Early College and a large packet of Constitution information is presented to the fifth grade classes at Pines Elementary. The Children's books about the Constitution or Patriots, that are featured at the library, are donated to them.
  • Each November we purchase requested items for Veterans at the Greenville Health Care Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
  • One deserving Jr. ROTC cadet is awarded a medal each Spring at their Military Ball.
  • In May, the chapter honors the DAR Good Citizens and DAR Youth Good Citizenship winners. Their families and teachers are invited to attend the ceremony and reception following.
  • Each Month the members of our chapter bring canned vegetables to the meeting which we donate to the local food bank, Plymouth Lunch Box.
  • For our DAR Day of service we donated Teddy Bears to the Town of Plymouth Police and the Washington County Sheriffs Department. These Teddy Bears are given in love to those in need of comfort in times of trouble. We plan to make this an ongoing project to help our community.
