CHAPTER HISTORY
The Cornelius Harnett Chapter ,NSDAR of Dunn, NC, was organized on Sept 20, 1921, at the home of Helena Morris Wade (Mrs. J. Lloyd) by Mrs. W. O. Spencer, State Regent, with Mrs. Wade as Organizing Regent.  The chapter took its name from Corneliur Harnett, a North Carolina planter of the Cape Fear Region, who was a leading opponent of the Stamp Act. He served as President of the North Carolina Provincal Council to organize the resources of the colony for military resistance against the British.  Cornelius Harnett represented North Carolina in the Third Contiental Congress, and he signed The Articles of Confederation.  Since Dunn is located in the county of Harnett which was named for him, it is particularly appropriate that the Dunn chapter bears his name.
