The Flint Hills Chapter of National Daughters of the American Revolution has 37 members and we meet at a local church at 7:00 pm on the second Tuesday of September, October, December, February, April, and May. Our activities promote the NSDAR goals of education, patriotism, and preservation.
For example, each year local students are awarded ribbons, certificates, and patriotic momentoes for participating in history related essay contests. Annually, we dress in colonial attire and provide food for the "Over the Mountain Men" at a local church. We attend the anniversary celebration of the Battle of Kings Mountain each year, participate in a local town's parade on Independence Day, and ring a church bell to celebrate the signing of the US Constitution. We also take part in a patriotic music program at a local church and we dress in colonial attire and help as hostesses at the annual Ghost Walk at the nearby Broad River Greenway.
We are looking for new members that are interested in joining our DAR Chapter. Help is available in filling out the necessary application for membership. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact me.
