CHAPTER HISTORY
    The John Foster Chapter, NSDAR, was the thirty-third chapter formed in North Carolina.  Mrs. John Blair (Hannah Jane) was the Organizing Regent, with 16 members in October of 1916.  The charter was granted to the chapter by the National board on October 16, 1916.

    Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.
CHAPTER and MEMBERSHIP Information
   Admission to membership in the NSDAR is either by invitation through a Chapter in your State Organization or Unit Overseas. No Chapter may discriminate against an applicant on the basis of race or creed.
    John Foster Chapter meets eight (8) times a year, usually at 3:30 p.m., sometimes in homes, sometimes at public places.  Twice a year, in December and May, we have supper meetings at the Country Club.
CHAPTER MEETINGS
    Captain John Foster was the highest ranking soldier in the area which became Union County in 1842.  He immigrated from Ireland in 1749 and resided on Waxhaw Creek.  He and his wife Jennet had no children.  He died in 1821 at age 72.
