Programs

All chapter activities support the primary NSDAR goals of historic preservation,
education, and patriotism.

Programs at Meetings
We sponsor a speaker at seven of our monthly meetings to share knowledge and
research about topics like history, education, patriotism, and genealogy.  Speakers
are typically museum docents, authors, college instructors, history hobbyists, and genealogists.

Previous programs have included the following topics:
Southern Revolutionary Battles
Preservation of an 18th Century Cabin
New Research about Pocahontas
Sherman Burned Up My Town
The Battle of Cowan's Ford
General Davidson's Wallet
The Charlotte Greenway
Hezekiah Alexander & the Revolution in the Back Country

Committee Activities

Through the DAR Committees, our members support the following awards and school activities:
DAR ROTC Award
DAR Good Citizens Award
DAR Patriotism Award
American History Essay contest
Constitution Week
DAR Scholarships

We also participate in supporting Crossnore and Tamassee Schools, Service
for Veteran-Patients at Salisbury, and Literacy.  Our members are involved in
the DAR project to digitize all of the DAR application papers.  We also have
volunteers at the USO center at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Ceremonies
Our members attend wreath-laying and grave-marking ceremonies for Patriots of the Revolutionary War.

We participate in the commemoration of the Signing of the Mecklenburg Declaration
of Independence, May 20, 1775.
