Rocky Mount owes its name to the mound of rocks at the Great Falls of the Tar River.  It is situated about halfway between Florida and New York where I-95 crosses US 64.  The population is about 60,000 people with new subdivisions and shopping areas developing constantly.  The railroad running through Rocky Mount divides Edgecombe and Nash counties.  Rocky Mount serves as a major terminal (hub) for the Seaboard System Railroad with 20-25 train operations out of Rocky Mount daily.
The Micajah Pettaway Chapter, NSDAR of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, welcomes you to our web page.  To us, it is an honor to be Daughters of the American Revolution.  It is interesting and exciting to meet other Daughters or women who would like to become Daughters.  We hold seven meetings and two teas each year with delightful and educational presentations and appetizing meals.
New members are a priority to us.  If you wish to gain more information about the largest patriotic organization of women in the United States of America, call us.  If you need help in researching your family history, contact us.
