Today’s DAR video
This video, hosted on YouTube, highlights the vibrant, active organization the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is today.

Welcome!

We are delighted that you are visiting the website of the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Our chapter is located in New Bern, North Carolina. Our mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

We meet as a chapter every month from September through May. Please contact us (see the menu on the left) for further information concerning chapter meeting locations and times. We welcome prospective members. We enjoy our preservation, educational, and patriotic activities and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our community, state, and country.

In 1921, twelve fine ladies of the city of New Bern applied for and received a charter from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to form a chapter in New Bern, North Carolina. The chapter honors Richard Dobbs Spaight, one of the signers of the Constitution of the United States of America and a resident of the city of New Bern.

We also honor Gertrude Sprague Carraway who was a strong, guiding force, who not only served our chapter as a Daughter, chapter regent, and the National Society as President General (1953-1956) but also our nation. Before she was elected as an NSDAR President General, Gertrude Carraway served as North Carolina state regent and NSDAR Vice President General.

Please feel free to explore this website where you will find out more about our projects, activities, programs, Patriots, and membership.
