Today’s DAR video
This video, hosted on YouTube, highlights the vibrant, active organization the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is today.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Samuel Johnston Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), website. We hope the information found here will prove helpful. If you are seeking a DAR chapter near the capital of North Carolina, please contact us to learn more about our active and civic-minded organization.

We meet as a chapter on the second Wednesday of the month, September through May. Our focus is to promote the DAR objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism through many interesting chapter programs and activities. We honor our revolutionary ancestors, recognize outstanding citizens, and volunteer in the area.

We enjoy our volunteer activities and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our community, state, and country. We look forward to our time with veterans at the Durham VA Medical Center during the Fall Festival. Our chapter participates in the annual DAR Day of Service by providing hams to local fire stations. We honor members of the military at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day Commemoration at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Raleigh, the City of Oaks, is in the central region of North Carolina, known for research, technology, and collegiate rivalries. As the state capital, Raleigh has numerous cultural attractions and resources. It is home to the North Carolina Museum of History, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, the State Archives of North Carolina, and the Olivia Raney History Library. Raleigh has beautiful green spaces downtown and parks located around the city. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Please feel free to explore this website. You will find out more about our history, activities, and our Patriots. We would love to have you as a part of our organization. Please contact us (see button in the left menu) if you would like to attend one of our meetings or talk with someone about our chapter. Enjoy!
