Membership

Chapter Meetings

Chapter membership is comprised of women of all ages and interests. We meet on the third Thursday of each month from September to May, except in December, at 7 p.m. Each meeting features a speaker or program followed by a business meeting. During the summer we host a social gathering for members, spouses, and prospective members.

How to Determine Eligibility

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal bloodline descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, or ancestors who contributed to the independence cause via donations of goods or support, is eligible for membership. Admission is either by invitation through a chapter in a state society or overseas units. The chapter registrar will provide assistance to prospective members in acquiring needed documentation for membership in the DAR.

Steps to Become a Member

  • Find your lineage
  • Identify your patriot ancestor
  • Locate a chapter
  • Complete the application process

Membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a unique opportunity to honor your lineage and heritage as a descendant of a patriot of the American Revolution. Patriots, both men and women, are eligible if they provided one of the three categories of service: military service, civil service, and/or patriotic service.
