Diana Wood NC State Regent

Welcome to the North Carolina Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Website! As State Regent, I invite everyone who has an ancestor who served during the Revolutionary War period to learn more about the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.  Our state continues to be active in the accomplishment of our objectives:  Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education and Patriotism. From its early beginnings, North Carolina has contributed to the history of our country.  North Carolina was the scene of the first attempt to colonize America by English speaking people in the 1580’s and the home of the Halifax Resolves, the first official act by a colony calling for independence, adopted on April 12, 1776. North Carolina was the 12th state admitted to the Union on November 21, 1789.

North Carolina Daughters are eager to assist anyone interested in membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Click here to contact the North Carolina State Membership Chairman to locate a chapter near yMiss Gertrude Carrawayou.

New Bern, featured on the main page, was the colonial capital of North Carolina and it was moved to Raleigh in 1794. New Bern was the home of our first state regent in NC and also of Gertrude Carraway who was instrumental in the restoration of Tryon Palace in the mid 1950's as President General of the NSDAR.
