Liberty Point Chapter Meetings

The Liberty Point Chapter meets the third Thursday of each month September through May. We gather at 6:00 p.m., in the home of a member hostess, and begin our business meeting at 6:30 p.m. followed by our program. Twice a year we have dinner meetings and guests are invited. Please contact us if you would like to attend a meeting. You would be most welcome.

Who Can Join the DAR?

Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of patriot ancestors. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. This includes proving an ancestor who contributed to the American independence cause via donations of goods or support. Please contact our chapter, or go to the National Society DAR web site for more information.

DAR Headquarters — Memorial Continental Hall, Washington, D.C.

The oldest building of the DAR complex was designed in 1905 by prominent Washington architect Edward Pearce Casey, designer of the interior of the Library of Congress. Upon its completion, Memorial Continental Hall was quickly recognized as one of Washington, D.C.’s most elegant buildings. The design for the building is in the classical revival style of the beaux-arts. Because of its classical detailing, the Hall fits in well with the Colonial Revival movement.
