Today’s DAR video
This video, hosted on YouTube, highlights the vibrant, active organization the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is today.

Welcome!

The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized in 1912, with 35 charter members. The name was chosen in commemoration of the signing of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence on May 20, 1775, known locally as “Meck Dec Day.”

Our chapter has grown to over 140 members who meet on the second Thursday of each month from September to May. Our focus is to promote the DAR objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism through many interesting chapter programs and activities. Most of our meetings feature a guest speaker, short business meeting, and light refreshments.

We enjoy our volunteer activities and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our community, state, and country. In addition to our regular monthly meetings; our chapter sponsors educational awards and scholarships, supports Tamassee DAR School and Crossnore School and Children’s Home, and provides donations to veterans receiving medical care at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina.
