Members observe Constitution Week.

Chapter members participate in Bells Across America to commemorate the adoption of the United States Constitution.

Winners of the DAR American history essay contest, DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, and JROTC medals received their awards.

Activities

Our chapter has many volunteer activities.
Below is a list of a few that are ongoing:

Day of Service Photo
  • Show appreciation to our local Sheriff’s Department as part of DAR’s Service to America project
  • Provide treats for firefighters on 9/11
  • Collect books for Hope Station
  • Participate in Wreaths Across America
  • Present the Community Service Award to recognize worthy individuals and organizations for outstanding voluntary service
  • Observe Constitution Week in September
  • Support veterans at the Wilson Veterans Residential Services of Wilson
  • Donate to the Fayetteville VA Medical Center and send greeting cards to the veterans in the hospital
  • Support Crossnore School and Children’s Home and other DAR supported schools
  • Organize DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest for local high school seniors
  • Present certificates and medals to outstanding JROTC members at the local high school
  • Sponsor the DAR American history essay contests for youth in grades five through eight
  • Sponsor a coffee for veterans and collect coupons for the troops
  • Celebrate the Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day
  • Donate garden seeds for Hindman Settlement School, Inc.
  • Volunteer and provide additional support to children in classrooms and schools in the community

In addition to our activities, the Thomas Hadley Chapter, NSDAR, meets monthly from September through May. Programs are based on historic, patriotic, educational, and membership topics. Locations for meetings vary, please contact us (see button in the left menu) for information.
