Activities

The Jacob Forney Chapter, NSDAR, is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Below is a list of our activities:

  • Observe Constitution Week in September by putting displays and posters in downtown Lincolnton businesses
  • Participate in Bells Across America by ringing bells at 4:00 p.m. on September 17 to celebrate the signing of the Constitution
  • Participate in the DAR Good Citizens program and Scholarship Contest
  • Present certificates to outstanding JROTC members at local high schools and colleges
  • Support Crossnore School and Children’s Home
  • Participate in projects to support active military men and women
  • Send baby items to Womack Army Medical Center at Ft. Bragg for active military mothers
  • Support veterans by sending handmade items to the W. G. (Bill) Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.
  • Present the Community Service Award to recognize worthy individuals and organizations for outstanding voluntary service
  • Send goodies to the Alexis Fire Department to show our appreciation for their service and for their maintenance of the Jacob Forney gravesite which is located next to the fire department
  • March in the Lincolnton Veterans Day Parade and hand out flags along the route
  • Work closely with Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) to commemorate the Battle of Ramsour’s Mill each June
