Today’s DAR video
This video, hosted on YouTube, highlights the vibrant, active organization the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is today.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Guilford Battle Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Our chapter was organized in 1901, chartered in 1902, and is now the third oldest chapter in North Carolina.

Our chapter honors the Battle of Guilford Courthouse which took place on March 15, 1781. This battle was between General Nathanael Greene, who commanded the Continental Army and North Carolina militia, and Lord Charles Cornwallis, who commanded British regulars and their allies. Although Greene’s forces retreated, Lord Cornwallis’ army was greatly weakened at Guilford Courthouse. Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia, on October 19, 1781. The Battle of Guilford Courthouse is considered to be a pivotal battle of the American Revolution. Lord Cornwallis described his experience at Guilford Courthouse: “I never saw such fighting since God made me. The Americans fought like demons.”

Our Guilford Battle Chapter, NSDAR, works closely with the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, the Guilford Battleground Company, and other DAR chapters. Our service goals are historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We are historically reverent, energetically involved in our community, and enthusiastically optimistic about our future.

If you would like to join our vibrant chapter, please contact us (see menu on left). Let us assist you in discovering and documenting your Patriot ancestor.
